About Sean
Sean is an American novelist and satirist. He writes about fly over states and small town drama. Sean uses humor to dissect Mountain West foibles, insecurities, and hypocrisies, while celebrating the imperfections of well-intentioned people. As willing to marvel as mock, Sean interweaves small town sensibility into narratives of joy, disappointment, humor, love, and pain.
His first novel explores housing and homelessness in Bozeman, Montana. As economic booms both enliven and threaten this one-time farming and ranching community, local residents confront selling high versus selling out. Their situation is dire, silly, of the greatest stakes, and largely ignored by the rest of the country. Their strength of character, insecurities, and clumsy benevolence make for a complex look into a town’s relationship to excessive wealth and extreme poverty.
In his spare time, Sean enjoys storytelling in all its forms: from movies, to journalism, histories, and, of course, all fiction. He lives in Cody, Wyoming with his wife, where they hike, bike, and ski.
